Zinc Die Casting Materials

ZH Precision works with certified zinc alloys, including Zamak 3, Zamak 5, and Zamak 7. Material composition and batch traceability are controlled before production to ensure consistent casting quality and reliable part performance.

Zamak 3 Zinc Alloy

Zamak 3 is the most widely used zinc die casting alloy, offering excellent castability, dimensional stability, and surface finish. It is suitable for precision components with complex geometries and consistent dimensional requirements.

PropertyTypical Range
Density6.6 g/cm³
Tensile Strength280–310 MPa
Yield Strength210–240 MPa
Elongation8–12%
Hardness80–90 HB
Thermal Conductivity110–115 W/m·K

Zamak 5 Zinc Alloy

Zamak 5 provides higher strength and hardness than Zamak 3, making it suitable for zinc die cast parts requiring improved mechanical performance, wear resistance, and structural reliability.

PropertyTypical Range
Density6.7 g/cm³
Tensile Strength320–350 MPa
Yield Strength230–260 MPa
Elongation5–8%
Hardness85–95 HB
Thermal Conductivity105–110 W/m·K

Zamak 7 Zinc Alloy

Zamak 7 offers improved fluidity and ductility, making it suitable for thin-wall components, detailed features, and precision zinc die casting parts requiring excellent surface quality.

PropertyTypical Range
Density6.6 g/cm³
Tensile Strength270–300 MPa
Yield Strength200–230 MPa
Elongation10–15%
Hardness75–85 HB
Thermal Conductivity110–115 W/m·K

Zamak 7 Zinc Alloy

ZA-8 provides higher strength and creep resistance compared with standard Zamak alloys. It is suitable for applications requiring enhanced mechanical performance and improved load-bearing capability.

PropertyTypical Range
Density6.3 g/cm³
Tensile Strength370–400 MPa
Yield Strength280–320 MPa
Elongation5–8%
Hardness95–110 HB
Thermal Conductivity105–110 W/m·K

Surface Finishes for Zinc Die Casting Parts

Die cast parts can be finished with anodizing, polishing, sand blasting, tumbling, electropolishing, Alodine, and electroplating based on alloy type and application needs. These finishes improve appearance, corrosion resistance, and surface performance.
